A former Minnesota Vikings captain and University of Minnesota football standout is sounding the alarm on what he says is a city—and a political party—spiraling out of control.
Jack Brewer, once a defensive leader for the Vikings and a Golden Gophers star, is accusing Minneapolis leaders of shielding illegal migrant criminals while attacking federal immigration enforcement. According to Brewer, Democrats are furious over ICE operations for one simple reason: those being deported are part of their political base.
“We’re deporting their voters. That’s part of what’s happening, and it’s blowing up their whole plan,” Brewer said.
As violent demonstrations continue to rock Minneapolis, Brewer says the city has completely lost its grip on reality.
“There is something wrong in Minneapolis. We need a city-wide behavioral health assessment. People have completely lost reality,” the former Golden Gophers defensive back told Fox News Digital.
Brewer didn’t mince words about what he believes needs to happen next, calling for a federal response to restore order and protect law enforcement officers under siege.
“I hope President Trump sends in the National Guard. We need curfews. We need real consequences for attacking law enforcement. These men and women should be able to do their jobs and go home to their families safely,” Brewer said.
The former NFL safety—who also played for the Giants, Eagles, and Cardinals between 2002 and 2006—has become an outspoken critic of America’s open-door immigration policies. He recently traveled to Guatemala in February 2025, where he met with illegal migrant families who had been deported from the United States.
“You can’t allow people to come into your country who don’t carry the same morals and values that you do. That’s what’s happening,” Brewer said.
Drawing on decades of humanitarian work overseas, Brewer argued that cultural differences matter—and ignoring them comes at a steep cost.
“Minneapolis is protecting these thugs. It’s unbelievable. These people are demonic. I’ve done work in third-world countries for 25 years. The values are not the same,” Brewer added.
“You cannot let people come into the United States who come from cultures like that, because they bring their culture with them. That’s what’s happening,” he said.
Brewer reserved some of his harshest criticism for Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey—a liberal Democrat who once honored Brewer with a key to the city in 2018.
“I wish I could lock the doors on that city and not let him back in if I had the power. What he has done is absolutely ridiculous. He tap-dances for Somalis. He does anything to go against the culture of America and Christianity for them,” Brewer said.
Before his NFL career, Brewer began his college football journey at Southern Methodist University, where he was a freshman All-American candidate, before becoming a standout at the University of Minnesota. After hanging up his cleats, he transitioned into finance and philanthropy, joining Merrill Lynch as a wealth manager and later founding The Brewer Group, which oversees investments in education, healthcare, and technology.
In 2006, he launched The Jack Brewer Foundation, focusing on disaster relief, prison ministries, and efforts to combat fatherlessness. He also serves as Chair of the Center for Opportunity and Now and Vice-Chair of the Center for 1776 at the America First Policy Institute, and has held advisory roles with the Commission on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys.
