Scarborough rips Franklin Graham for backing all-American TPUSA halftime show

by

In a fiery Monday morning segment, Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough blasted evangelical preacher Franklin Graham’s claim that the Super Bowl halftime show has become too “sexualized,” pointing out the irony of praising Turning Point USA’s alternative show featuring Kid Rock – a singer whose lyrics include references to “sex with underage girls.”

The controversy erupted after MAGA conservatives protested the NFL’s decision to put Puerto Rican star Bad Bunny at the halftime helm. The rapper has drawn ire from the right for publicly criticizing the Trump administration’s deportation policies and refusing to tour the U.S. over ICE raids, remarks he made in a Grammy acceptance speech just last week.

In response, Turning Point USA organized a pro-Trump alternative halftime spectacle. Graham praised the move on X, claiming the NFL has long been “pushing” a “sexualized agenda” and that headlining with Bad Bunny was further evidence.

Scarborough didn’t hold back on his reaction. “It was 133 million people watching [Bad Bunny] instead of alternative programming where they had a guy performing who, of course, throughout his career has preached the glories of – Franklin Graham, I guess, likes this because he said it was a god and country thing – but a guy who has preached the glories of having sex with underage girls and setting up escort services atop the Four Seasons, cowboy.”

He then highlighted lyrics from Kid Rock’s 2021 track Cool, Daddy Cool, reading aloud on air:

“Young ladies, young ladies, I like ’em underage, see? Some say that statutory.”

At the Turning Point USA show itself, Kid Rock performed no inappropriate material, and he was far from the sole headliner. With artists like Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett sharing the stage, the event was designed as a patriotic, pro-American entertainment alternative—not a platform for glorifying past missteps. Critics say that focusing on Kid Rock’s old lyrics is a deflection.

Scarborough used the moment to accuse Graham and other pro-Trump figures of posing as moral defenders while supporting what he called “an immoral, corrupt regime” tied to the “Epstein class.”

“You know the false… just the self-righteousness, the posing – that’s all a sham. All in defense of a corrupt, corrupt regime and an immoral, corrupt regime. And the people in that regime all, it seems, a lot of the members of the Epstein class, either members of the Epstein class, as Jon Ossoff said this weekend, or defenders of the Epstein class and protectors of the Epstein class and protectors of Epstein files. And that’s who Franklin Graham is getting self-righteous for.”
