‘Spoiler alert’: Carrie Underwood gets ‘booed A LOT’ during Hollywood Week, one star has her back

by

Carrie Underwood isn’t backing down—and that’s exactly why the outrage machine is working overtime.

During a recent taping of Hollywood Week on American Idol, the 42-year-old country superstar stunned fans by revealing she wasn’t exactly receiving standing ovations from everyone in the room. Taking to X, she delivered the news herself with a wink.

“Spoiler alert… I get booed A LOT from our Hollywood Week audience,” she posted, tagging the show and adding a flushed-face emoji.

Within minutes, critics swarmed her comments, dredging up her decision to perform “America the Beautiful” at President Donald Trump’s 2025 inauguration. To the left, that patriotic performance remains unforgivable.

“Lol. You bet. You sang for a mad man,” one user sneered, as others piled on, labeling her “MAGA” as though it were a scarlet letter.

“Amen.”

“100%.”

“Indeed.”

“Exactly.”

Another critic jabbed, “You took the extra step of making sure literally everyone dislikes you. Respect.”

“Go away, has been,” one added, while another quipped, “Have you been hacked? Odd you would mention it, good to know. I stopped watching it in 2025.”

So much for tolerance.

But here’s what the outrage crowd doesn’t want to admit: for every Hollywood heckler, there’s a legion of Americans applauding her courage.

Country artist John Rich fired back with a message that cut straight to the point: “Good! The last thing you want is Hollywood thinking well of you.”

Another supporter wrote, “You are loved by all the right people.”

“Miss Underwood, stay with your values ma’am. You are on the right side of history & more importantly, morality,” one fan declared.

“Take those boos as a compliment ! We are on the right side of history. Trust you will not lose your base, probably gain more followers. Stay strong!”

That’s the other side of the story—the side rarely amplified in elite entertainment circles.

Let’s not forget what actually happened at that inauguration. In January 2025, inside the Capitol Rotunda, Underwood delivered “America the Beautiful” moments after Trump took the oath of office. When technical difficulties cut the backing track, she didn’t flinch. She went a cappella, rallied the crowd, and finished strong. Even critics admitted it took nerve.

Yet some in celebrity circles were less than charitable. Mandy Moore and Ariana Grande both “liked” a meme mocking her pitch. On The View, co-host Joy Behar questioned whether performing at the ceremony helped “normalize” Trump’s presidency. Meanwhile, Nancy Lee Grahn announced she could “no longer look” at the singer.

Imagine that—career-ending outrage for singing a patriotic hymn at a presidential inauguration.

Not everyone in entertainment joined the pile-on. Whoopi Goldberg defended Underwood’s right to perform, arguing artists shouldn’t be politically policed. Country star Jason Aldean praised her handling of the audio mishap, calling the recovery a “pro move.”

As for Underwood? She’s consistently sidestepped partisan labels. When she confirmed her inaugural performance, she kept it simple and patriotic: “I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event.”

“I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future,” she added.

Unity. Patriotism. Professionalism.

In today’s entertainment climate, that alone is enough to get you booed.

But if Hollywood’s disapproval is the price of loving your country, Carrie Underwood seems more than willing to pay it—and millions of Americans appear ready to cheer her on.
