US detects drones buzzing Army base that houses Rubio, Hegseth, report

Washington insiders are scrambling after a deeply unsettling breach of security right in the nation’s backyard—yet the silence from top officials is only fueling more questions.

According to a bombshell report, unidentified drones were spotted flying over a U.S. Army installation in Washington, D.C.—a base that just so happens to house Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Even more troubling, sources say authorities still have no idea where these drones came from. In an era of advanced surveillance and national defense systems, unknown aerial devices are hovering over a sensitive military site—and no one can say who’s behind them, according to the Washington Post.

The situation became serious enough that officials reportedly considered relocating both Rubio and Hegseth out of Fort McNair altogether. That’s not a minor precaution—that’s a red flag. Still, despite the apparent risk, both men remain at the base, according to a senior administration insider.

Meanwhile, the military is said to be on heightened alert, especially given ongoing tensions tied to the escalating conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran.

The Pentagon and State Department have refused to comment. Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell brushed off inquiries, declining to provide details and doubling down on secrecy.

“The department cannot comment on the secretary’s [Hegseth’s] movements for security reasons, and reporting on such movements is grossly irresponsible,” he said.

To make matters murkier, independent confirmation of the drone activity remains elusive. But the lack of denial—and the reported internal concern—suggests this is more than just a false alarm.
