Where in the world is Hunter? Broke Biden flees U.S. amid mounting debt drama

by

Hunter Biden — once the most protected man in Washington — has apparently packed his bags and left the United States, trading Delaware courtrooms for an undisclosed address abroad as his legal and financial headaches refuse to go away.

The bombshell didn’t come from a press conference or a friendly interview. It came buried in a dry April 6 court filing from his own attorney, Barry Coburn, tied to a lawsuit over — what else — unpaid legal bills.

The blunt admission says it all: “Mr. Biden lives abroad… He cannot pay his current lawyers.” Not exactly the résumé line you expect from a former first son who once had access to the highest corridors of power.

Where in the world is Hunter? That part remains conveniently fuzzy. But clues point south — way south. Late last year, Biden himself gushed about time spent in Cape Town, where his wife, Melissa Cohen Biden, has roots.

Speaking on a South African podcast, Biden sounded less like a man under legal siege and more like a travel influencer: “I’ve fallen madly in love with Cape Town… It’s the most beautiful city in the world.” Heartwarming — if not a little tone-deaf for someone drowning in legal debt.

He added that the plan was to split time between South Africa and the U.S., saying, “We’re trying to be between Cape Town and the States, go back and forth.” That was then. Now, the “back and forth” may be looking more like a one-way ticket.

And let’s talk about that debt. Biden has openly admitted to being buried under a staggering $17 million tied to legal troubles. That’s not pocket change — even by Washington standards.

The irony is hard to miss. This is the same man who, just months ago, stood at the center of multiple high-profile prosecutions — from a felony gun conviction to serious tax charges involving $1.4 million in unpaid taxes.

Prosecutors showed he lied on a federal firearm form while battling drug addiction. He later pleaded guilty to a slate of tax offenses. Ordinary Americans don’t walk away from that kind of rap sheet.

But Hunter Biden isn’t ordinary. In December 2024, his father, Joe Biden, handed him a sweeping pardon on federal charges just before exiting the White House — a move that raised more than a few eyebrows about equal justice under the law. Yet even a presidential pardon can’t wipe away debt collectors. According to court filings, Biden hasn’t paid a “substantial portion” of what he owes his legal team. Things are so tight that he reportedly couldn’t even afford professional help to sift through documents — instead combing through emails himself like a desperate intern.

Still, the Biden family image machine keeps humming. Just days ago, Hunter was spotted smiling alongside Jill Biden and the former president during an Easter gathering in California — as if nothing’s amiss.
