‘Time to sue this liar’: Ro Khanna accused Elon Musk of child murder, now he wants to ‘talk’

by

One of the more fascinating developments in politics is how quickly some people go from throwing rhetorical grenades to requesting a civil discussion once lawyers start appearing on the horizon. The latest example comes from California Congressman Ro Khanna and Elon Musk.

Now, Musk has become a favorite villain in progressive circles. Depending on the day, he’s accused of destroying democracy, corrupting politics, breaking government, ruining social media, threatening civilization, or all of the above before lunch. But this latest accusation may have taken things to a new level.

During an appearance on the “I’ve Had It” podcast, Khanna argued that Democrats should investigate Musk if they regain power in Congress. While discussing USAID cuts associated with the Department of Government Efficiency, Khanna said:

“I do believe once we take power, there needs to be accountability. There needs to be accountability for Elon Musk.”

Then he delivered the line that set this whole mess in motion:

“They’re celebrating that he created 4,400 millionaires, but they don’t talk about the 4.5 million children around the world who he possibly sentenced to death by dismantling USAID.”

“He needs to answer for that. He needs to be subpoenaed. He needs to face investigation. He needs to answer for what he did with DOGE. It’s not just ‘let’s move on.'”

That’s a pretty serious accusation. Khanna moved all the way to suggesting Musk may have “sentenced to death” 4.5 million children. That’s the sort of statement that tends to get people’s attention. Especially the person being accused.

After seeing coverage of Khanna’s comments, Musk fired back on X:

“Time to sue this liar.”

A short time later, Musk expanded on his defense, arguing that DOGE’s standard for foreign aid programs was straightforward:

“The standard applied by DOGE was very simple and easy: Provide contact information for the recipients of aid, so that we can confirm it is not fraudulent.”

Then he took a direct shot at Khanna:

“The reality is that money was being sent to corrupt politicians under the guise of aid! Liars and stock insider traders like Ro the Robber should be in prison!!”

Almost immediately after Musk started talking about lawsuits, Khanna shifted gears and began suggesting the two men should debate the issue publicly.

And that’s where the timeline becomes impossible to ignore. First comes the accusation that Musk helped sentence millions of children to death. Then comes the threat of congressional investigations. Then comes the threat of a lawsuit. Then suddenly we’re talking about a debate. Funny how that works.

There are serious studies and advocacy groups that argue reductions in foreign aid could contribute to increased mortality in some regions. There are also critics who argue USAID has long suffered from inefficiency, corruption, and poor oversight. Those are legitimate policy debates.
