A private text conversation between Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and actor Mark Ruffalo became public this week after Kennedy recounted the exchange during an appearance on the Fly Zone USA podcast, offering another glimpse into how President Donald Trump continues to reshape old political alliances.

Kennedy told host Christian “Trick Trick” Mathis that Ruffalo had recently reached out by text and was unhappy with Kennedy’s role in the Trump administration.

“I was texting with Mark Ruffalo the other day, he’s very mad at me,” Kennedy said.

When Mathis asked whether Kennedy meant the Marvel actor, Kennedy confirmed he did before adding, “He’s got really bad Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

According to Kennedy, Ruffalo texted him, “You’re working for the stupidest man in America.”

Kennedy said he once held some similar assumptions about Trump but claimed his opinion changed after spending significant time with him.

“Now that I know him,” Kennedy said, “he has like an encyclopedic mind.”

Kennedy continued by describing Trump’s interests in unusually broad terms. “He knows everything. He knows about music… He loves theater. He knows everything about sports. He can out-talk you on every sport.”

He also praised Trump’s knowledge of finance and international affairs, saying the president could discuss Wall Street transactions in detail and possessed an extensive understanding of foreign policy.

Recalling one flight aboard Air Force One, Kennedy said Trump sketched what he described as a detailed map of the Middle East while discussing troop deployments and regional dynamics. Kennedy cited the experience as one example that changed his perception of the president.

Ruffalo has been one of Trump’s most outspoken critics in Hollywood for years. He has repeatedly criticized the president in interviews and on social media, including appearances at political rallies and campaign events supporting Democratic causes. The actor has described Trump in sharply critical terms and has argued that the president poses a threat to American democracy.

Trump has dismissed many celebrity critics over the years, often characterizing them as out of touch with voters. During last year’s campaign, he rejected accusations that he sought unchecked power, saying, “I’m not a king… I work my ass off to make our country great.”
