After news broke that the troops had been killed in action, Hegseth posted a brief tribute on X.

“Godspeed, heroes,” the defense secretary wrote. “Their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve.”

Greene immediately took issue with one word.

“Sacrifice?? What the f* are you talking about??**” she wrote.

“They did not willingly sacrifice themselves. They were killed because of the war you, Trump, and the admin, are waging on behalf of a FOREIGN COUNTRY, Israel.“

She closed her post with another blistering accusation.

“Their deaths fuel your bloodlust for a senseless war.“

The comments instantly ignited fierce debate across conservative media and social media, exposing an increasingly visible split inside the broader America First movement over U.S. involvement in the Middle East.

According to U.S. Central Command, two American service members were killed Friday while defending U.S. and coalition forces in Jordan from Iranian ballistic missiles and drones. One additional service member remains missing, while four others were evacuated for medical treatment before later being released.

President Trump addressed the tragedy during an interview with NewsNation Saturday evening. “It’s a very sad thing. We hate to see it happen,” Trump said. “It’s in service to our country… we’re never going to allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon.”

Within hours, U.S. forces launched another wave of strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure as the administration vowed to continue degrading Tehran’s ability to threaten American forces and international shipping.

Greene, however, has remained one of the loudest Republican critics of the conflict from its earliest days.
