Joy Behar: ‘this country will vote for an obese, Jewish, Black, homosexual before a woman’

by

BS BULLETIN:

  • Joy Behar declared Tuesday that she doesn’t believe America will elect a woman president.
  • Her rather extraordinary hypothetical: Voters would elect an “obese, Jewish, Black, homosexual” first.
  • Sara Haines pushed back, arguing candidates neither win nor lose based on identity alone.

Joy Behar has apparently figured out the one candidate America is finally ready for.

He just has to check a remarkable number of boxes.

“The View” co-host doubled down Tuesday on her long-running argument that American voters simply won’t elect a woman president as the panel discussed identity politics and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s possible 2028 presidential ambitions.

“I think this country will vote for an obese, Jewish, Black, homosexual before a woman,” Behar said.

Guest co-host Star Jones agreed, pointing to Kamala Harris’ 2024 defeat.

“We just had one of the most beautiful, brilliant women run for president,” Jones said. “And you see what we got.”

But Sara Haines wasn’t buying the explanation.

“You don’t win on identity alone, and you don’t lose on identity alone,” Haines responded.

Alyssa Farah Griffin also disagreed with Behar’s broader prediction, saying she believes America will elect a woman president within the next 20 years.

The discussion was prompted in part by a new interview in which Ocasio-Cortez acknowledged that her race and sex factor into her thinking about a possible presidential campaign.

“Pretty candidly, I think about my identity,” Ocasio-Cortez said, noting that she is both a woman and Latina and understands there will be questions about electability if she runs.

Behar, however, has been making her argument for months.

In July, she challenged her fellow hosts to name a woman who could win the presidency and dismissed the prospect of another Harris campaign, pointing out that Harris had already lost once.

Two women have been major-party presidential nominees in U.S. history: Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Harris in 2024. Both lost to Donald Trump.

Behar’s conclusion is that their sex remains the central obstacle.

Haines’ response offered the obvious alternative explanation: Presidential elections involve millions of voters weighing candidates, policies, personalities, economic conditions and countless other factors — not one demographic characteristic.

Either way, Behar has now established quite a hypothetical benchmark for the first man who apparently could still get elected before a woman.

MY QUICK TAKE

I have questions about Joy’s mystery candidate.

Where does one find an obese, Jewish, Black, gay man with presidential ambitions?

More importantly, has anyone told him he’s apparently got this thing locked up?
