Kamala Harris calls voter-roll removals ‘cheating’ — DHS responds with one brutal GIF

Kamala Harris offered her assessment of the Trump administration’s voter-roll crackdown Wednesday — and the Department of Homeland Security apparently decided her own words required very little commentary.

A clip circulated by RNC Research shows the former vice president discussing administration efforts to identify and remove people deemed ineligible to vote.

“They’re cheating,” Harris said while describing the effort, before adding: “They’re trying to take our tools, but we are a creative people.”

The clip quickly took off online, with critics interpreting Harris’ remarks as opposition to removing noncitizens from voter rolls.

Then DHS joined the conversation.

The department’s official X account responded with a GIF — effectively allowing the clip to speak for itself.

There is a larger fight behind the viral exchange.

The Trump administration has pushed states to use federal citizenship data to identify potentially ineligible registrations and has backed the SAVE America Act, which would impose proof-of-citizenship requirements for federal voter registration and require states to remove verified noncitizens from their rolls. Federal law already prohibits noncitizens from voting in federal elections.

But the administration’s numbers and methods are disputed. Harris calling the administration’s voter-roll effort “cheating” immediately gave her opponents an opening.

And DHS wasted no time taking it.
