THE DAILY BS: HOW MUCH CAN YOU HANDLE?

SPARE ME THE BS (I’ve got things to do).
- Democratic Senate candidate Angie Nixon told CNN she wants Republican Sen. Ashley Moody locked up.
- Moody responded by highlighting Nixon’s Jacksonville bookstore display featuring people convicted of killing police officers.
- Nixon has defended the portraits as historical education and says she stands by the display.
LAY IT ON ME (I’ve got time).
Angie Nixon wants Ashley Moody in prison. Ashley Moody wants voters to look at the convicted cop killers on Angie Nixon’s bookstore wall.
And suddenly Florida’s Senate race has become considerably more interesting than another argument about campaign fundraising.
Nixon, the Democratic nominee, told CNN she wants Moody jailed over the Hope Florida controversy. When asked whether she really wanted her Republican opponent locked up, Nixon replied: “Yeah basically. I absolutely want that to happen.”
Angie Nixon: “They’re spreading lies about me saying I want to abolish prisons… Why would I want to do that when I want [Ashley Moody] locked up and jailed.”
CNN: “You want your Republican opponent locked up?”

Moody wasn’t about to let that pass.
Appearing on Fox News, the senator pointed to Café Resistance, Nixon’s Jacksonville bookstore, and said her opponent runs a business with a “SHRINE to people who have killed law enforcement!”
Host Harris Faulkner’s reaction was immediate: “What?!”
Moody added that the issue was personal because her husband is a law enforcement officer.
🚨 HOLY SMOKES. Sen. Ashley Moody (R-FL) from the top rope on Angie Nixon (D): “She quotes cop killers and runs a book store with a SHRINE to people who have killed law enforcement!”
FAULKNER: “What?!”
MOODY: “If folks want to say that’s part of their BIG TENT? […] I am the wife of a law enforcement officer. Most people think it’s CRAZY what she’s promoting. IT’S PERSONAL TO ME.” 👏🏻👏🏻
Angie Nixon should move out of the United States, and CERTAINLY get the HECK out of Florida!
I checked, and it’s true: Nixon’s Jacksonville store, “Cafe Resistance,” has a wall of 12 Black Power figures. According to the Washington Free Beacon, four of them were convicted of killing police officers
One of them is Assata Shakur, convicted of m*rdering New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster in 1973. She broke out of prison and fled to Cuba, and the FBI put her on its Most Wanted Terrorists list
Nixon has closed campaign speeches, including one in a church, by quoting Shakur and calling her “a famous freedom fighter”
When she was confronted over the wall, Nixon said “a lot of them were set up” and asked, “What’s wrong with me having that up there?”
This is who Democrats want representing Florida’s cops in the Senate. VOTE AGAINST IT.

The display includes Assata Shakur, convicted in the killing of New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster, and Mumia Abu-Jamal, convicted of murdering Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner.
Washington Free Beacon reporting documented the wall, while local Jacksonville reporting described an exchange in which critics confronted Nixon about the portraits.
Nixon defended the display, saying it represented historical figures whose lives and cases deserve examination. “I stand by everything in this bookstore,” she said.
This is what I was talking about during my interview with @HarrisFaulkner just now. My opponent, Socialist @AngieNixon, has a shrine to people who have killed law enforcement officers in her bookstore, Cafe Resistance. They say that’s part of their “big tent.” https://t.co/ThJwb4H0BK

Nixon has been defending herself against claims that she favors abolishing prisons while openly saying she wants her opponent in one. Moody, meanwhile, has made the bookstore wall part of her argument about Nixon’s attitude toward law enforcement.
