Someone in Texas may have just invented the strangest political campaign appearance in American history.
There was a Joe Biden mask, a Charlie Kirk shirt, one banana and absolutely no explanation.
And yes, the police got involved.
A family in Watauga, Texas, was left rattled after its doorbell camera recorded an unidentified individual approaching their home Sunday evening, October 18, dressed in what appeared to be a mask of former President Joe Biden.
That alone might have qualified as a questionable Halloween rehearsal. But our mystery visitor wasn’t finished.
According to footage aired by local television stations, the individual opened an outer garment to reveal a shirt bearing the word “FREEDOM,” a design associated with the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Then came the banana.
The stranger peeled the fruit, looked toward the home’s security camera, and proceeded to eat it through the Biden mask before departing.

This may be the first time Joe Biden’s face and Charlie Kirk’s wardrobe have appeared together in a political performance sponsored by the produce aisle.
The unusual encounter took place around 8 p.m. on Pebblebrook Drive, where teenagers were reportedly inside the house at the time. Understandably, the family wasn’t especially entertained by an unidentified masked person appearing at its front door after dark.
Watauga police reviewed the footage and looked into the incident. But officers eventually determined that the bizarre visitor had not committed a crime.
Police Chief Jim Lewis offered a response that deserves consideration for the police department’s quote-of-the-year award.
“While we can’t explain the costume, the banana, or the apparent political identity crisis, we can confirm that being bizarre is not, in itself, a criminal offense.”
There you have it. In Texas, you can apparently impersonate a former Democratic president, advertise a conservative activist’s favorite slogan and perform a masked fruit-eating demonstration without violating the criminal code.
America remains a land of extraordinary freedom.
Police also said they were aware of social-media reports suggesting the individual may have visited other homes in the area, although those claims had not produced additional confirmed police reports at the time of the initial investigation.
The visitor’s identity and motive remain unknown.
Perhaps it was an elaborate prank. Perhaps someone was testing a Halloween costume. Perhaps America’s political divisions have finally reached the stage where people need a snack before deciding which side they’re on.
Whatever the explanation, the choice of clothing is difficult to ignore. Joe Biden and Charlie Kirk hardly represented the same corner of American politics. Yet here they were, united in an unexpected doorstep spectacle with a banana acting as the apparent bipartisan centerpiece.
Video of the incident quickly attracted attention beyond North Texas, appearing in coverage by local and national outlets.
Police reminded residents that suspicious activity should be reported, even when an incident doesn’t ultimately amount to a criminal offense. As for the mystery visitor, the great banana caper appears to have ended with no arrest and no publicly identified culprit.
But at least the political messaging was unforgettable.
