Nun tackles protester to the ground in viral clip of the week!

An environmental protester got a surprise attack that was caught on video when a French nun tackled him to the ground.

The protester was seen in the video running away from the nun as he carried what appeared to be building materials. The woman is seen chasing him and quickly taking him down to the ground.

“On Saturday, members of the eco-group Les Amis de la Bourges, which is translated to friends of the village, attempted to protest the building of a new religious complex in Saint-Pierre-de-Colombier. The construction was surrounded by a group of nuns from the Missionary Family of Notre-Dame forming a human chain around the area to stop the activists,” Fox News reported.

Speaking with public broadcast channel France 3. Sylvain Hérenguel, the co-president of the Association for the Future of the Bourges Valley, expressed his surprise.

“I didn’t expect that. I expected the nuns to be a little reasonable for the public order,” he said. “The problem is that the religious people decided to resort to violence. I was attacked three times by five people, who snatched me, and wanted to throw me out there. They decided to protect the site with their actions and their bodies.”

After the takedown, the furious nun returned to her sisters and they began singing, ostensibly to drown out the sound of the protesters.

The environmental activists have been protesting the construction of the basilica, which originally began in December 2018, because of the risk to several rare species of plants.

“There is reseda of jackfruit noted by the French Biodiversity Office. And it is not in the environmental study on which the Prefect relied to restart the construction site. They do not have authorization to destroy the habitats of protected species,” Hérenguel added.

The video of the tackle went viral on social media where humorous reactions poured in:
