Just hours into the fallout from President Joe BIden’s announcement that he is dropping out of the race, criticisms of his vice president’s “record” were being labeled as racist.
Vice President Kamala Harris was endorsed by Biden after his extraordinary announcement on Sunday, swinging open the door for her tenure to come under direct scrutiny. And after one particularly damning assessment by former Donald Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, the attacks were unleashed about the “racist dog whistles” coming from critics.
“She does not speak well, she does not work hard, she doesn’t inspire anyone,” Conway said of Harris during a Fox News segment. “She should not be the standard bearer for the party.”
Conway’s ex-husband, Never Trumper George Conway, mocked the former 2016 Trump campaign adviser and posted the clip along with his comment, “Not everyone can express themselves as eloquently and with such exquisite turns of phrase as Donald J. Trump.”

Kellyanne and Geroge Conway, who have three children, announced after 22 years of marriage that they were divorcing in 2023. George Conway, a Lincoln Project co-founder, openly criticized his wife’s boss even as she continued working in the Trump administration. Last week he reportedly kicked off an Anti-Psychopath political action committee to “highlight the existential threat Donald Trump poses to democracy and remind voters of the former president’s mental unfitness for office.”
The knee-jerk reactions to Kellyanne’s criticisms poured in on X where it was. predictably, all about race for Democrats.
