Trump: Week 7

by

President Donald Trump continued to check off agenda items as he moved like a train into his seventh week in office.

The president kicked off the week with a strong message to lawmakers and the American people as he addressed a joint session of Congress, declaring that “America is back!”

“America’s destiny into our own hands,” he said in Tuesday’s speech, which was themed, the “Renewal of the American Dream.”

Covering topics from the economy, to foreign policy and immigration, Trump’s speech lasted more than 90 minutes, making it the longest joint address in recent history. The president discussed the administration’s stunning accomplishments in a few short weeks and unveiled upcoming plans as he also put the spotlight on guests in the gallery.

Perhaps one of the most memorable moments came as he introduced DJ Daniel, a 13-year-old who battled brain cancer and dreamed of being a police officer.

Trump called out Democrats for their disastrous and distasteful behavior during the night that kicked off with one of their own being escorted out after repeatedly disrespecting the president.

But there was no denying the electric atmosphere and the truth behind Trump’s claim about the Golden Era for the country.

Some of the week’s highlights:

Diplomacy through strength

Trump said Tuesday that after last week’s abrupt end to a meeting with Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has indicated that his country wants to continue the peace negotiations and is ready to sign off on the rare-earth minerals deal.

He also announced the terrorist behind the 2021 attack in Afghanistan that killed 13 US troops, had been caught.

“Tonight, I am pleased to announce that we have just apprehended the top terrorist responsible for that atrocity,” Trump said. “And he is right now on his way here to face the swift sword of American justice.”

The president threatened Hamas with a “last warning” after he met with former hostages released from Gaza.

“RELEASE THE HOSTAGES NOW, OR THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY LATER!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

In response to antisemitic harassment reportedly on and around the campus of Columbia University, the Trump administration slashed about $400 million in grants and contracts to the school this week.

“Universities must comply with all federal antidiscrimination laws if they are going to receive federal funding. For too long, Columbia has abandoned that obligation to Jewish students studying on its campus,” Education Secretary Linda McMahon said in a statement. “Today, we demonstrate to Columbia and other universities that we will not tolerate their appalling inaction any longer.”

Immigration

U.S. immigration agents continue to carry out the president’s directive in closing down the border to illegal aliens and mass deportations. The numbers at the border have taken a staggering nosedive since Trump took office.

Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin, who spent endless hours covering the dire situation at the southern border under the Biden administration, noted that it would be hard to find a “single migrant” on camera now.

“If Fox were to send me down there right now, I would have trouble finding a single migrant on camera,” he said.

The week also saw work begin again on the border wall.

During Tuesday’s address to Congress, Trump announced he had renamed the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge in Texas to honor Jocelyn Nungaray, the victim of a brutal murder by Venezuelan illegal aliens.

Economy, Jobs, Investments

“Big gains for native-born Americans … Employment for native-born workers went up by 284,000 while foreign-born workers went down by 87,000,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office as he shared the latest Jobs Report numbers.

“For the first time in 15 months, the job gains for native-born Americans — for American people, people born in America — exceeded job gains for migrant and foreign-born workers. This is the first time that’s happened in more than 15 months,” he added.“Employment for native-born workers went up by 284,000 while foreign-born workers went down by 87,000,” he said.

Mortgage rates in the US continued to fall and this week saw the biggest weekly drop since mid-September. The president also announced several major investments this week, including a $100 billion investment by TSMC in U.S. chips manufacturing, and a new $20 billion investment in the United States by shipping giant CMA CGM for “shipping logistics, infrastructure, and terminals, which will create an estimated 10,000 new jobs in America.”

Trump also announced the creation of a new Office of Shipbuilding in the White House.
