House votes to subpoena Bill and Hillary Clinton in Epstein case

by

A House panel has voted Wednesday to subpoena former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as part of a widening investigation into the dark world of Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

The House Oversight Committee, under the leadership of Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., is digging deep into the Epstein scandal, and Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., spearheaded a motion to bring in some of the biggest names in American politics. The list of potential witnesses includes not only the Clintons but also former FBI Director James Comey, former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Merrick Garland, Robert Mueller, William Barr, Jeff Sessions, and Alberto Gonzales. This sweeping request purportedly signals a new era of accountability, demanding answers from those who may have been connected to Maxwell and the illicit activities surrounding Epstein.

While the subpoenas themselves still need to be formally issued by Chairman Comer, a House Oversight Committee aide confirmed to Fox News Digital that they will be issued in the near future. This development comes hot on the heels of a push by Rep. Summer Lee, D-Pa., a member of the progressive “Squad,” who also sought a vote to subpoena files related to Epstein. Her motion passed with an 8-to-2 vote, also directing Comer to issue the subpoena.

The Epstein saga has been a constant thorn in the side of the establishment, and recent actions by the Department of Justice (DOJ) have only fueled the fire. A DOJ memo that effectively declared the matter closed has drawn sharp criticism, particularly from the MAGA base, who accuse Trump officials, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, of reneging on promises of transparency. President Trump has directed the DOJ to unseal grand jury files related to Epstein’s case. Bondi is also actively investigating whether Ghislaine Maxwell, currently imprisoned, will cooperate with federal authorities.

A House GOP-led motion to subpoena Maxwell passed unanimously earlier this week, with Comer issuing the subpoena the very next day. Despite these efforts, Democrats have attempted to capitalize on any perceived Republican discord, amplifying their own calls for transparency in the Epstein case. However, Wednesday’s hearing, while technically unrelated to Epstein, highlights a broader pattern: Democrats are using every available opportunity to put Republicans in a difficult political spot on this sensitive issue.

Adding another layer to the investigation, Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., successfully amended Lee’s motion to include a demand for the release of any communications from the Biden administration concerning Epstein. This ensures that the investigation leaves no stone unturned, scrutinizing all administrations for potential involvement or cover-ups.

“The public has a right to know who was complicit in Epstein’s horrific crimes, especially those wielding immense power within our government,” stated Rep. Robert Garcia, the recently appointed top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee. “This vote marks a crucial initial stride towards accountability, and we are resolute in our pursuit of the truth.”

GOP subcommittee members successfully incorporated an amendment into Lee’s motion. This amendment mandates the release of Epstein-related files and also requires the disclosure of materials pertaining to former President Joe Biden’s communications with administration officials concerning the Epstein affair.
