‘I can’t stand Jessica Tarlov… A real loser!!’ Spin Queen of The Five sets Trump off at an odd moment

by

Fox News commentator Jessica Tarlov drew the ire of President Donald Trump on Tuesday, prompting a harsh message on his Truth Social platform. “I can’t stand Jessica Tarlov of THE FIVE. A real loser!!! DJT,” Trump wrote in a post timestamped at 5:13 p.m.

Ironically, the attack came while Tarlov was live on The Five, not engaging in any criticism of Trump but instead reflecting emotionally on the tragic shooting in New York City the day before. The incident claimed the lives of multiple victims, including two women with whom Tarlov had personal connections through mutual acquaintances.

“I’m completely devastated and heartbroken by this. It’s, you know, where I grew up,” Tarlov shared during the segment. “I know people who know both of the female victims, Julia Hyman and Wesley LePatner, who seem like incredible people and members of their community. Julia Hyman, only four years out of college, just getting started. Wesley LePatner’s two children away at camp. And this is the news that they get on a phone call.”

Tarlov went on to express sympathy for the families of the officers involved, including Officer Islam, who died in the line of duty. “I didn’t know. And I still don’t know much about the second officer, but Officer Islam, hearing that last night that he has two kids and an eight-month pregnant wife. Unimaginable. I don’t know how women go through this,” she said. “I don’t know how you carry on a pregnancy when you have lost your partner like that. And I wish her all the strength in the world.”

Her comments then turned toward policy and leadership, particularly praising the efforts of New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch and advocating for stronger gun control measures.

“Jessica Tisch continues to impress at an astounding level to me. I thought Mayor Adams was also good yesterday,” Tarlov noted. “But as we are on the precipice of another election, I can’t help but say again, I wish that Jessica Tisch had felt that she was ready right now. Maybe she runs again in the next election, but I feel that she embodies the grace and the professionalism and the efficiency that Mayor Bloomberg did, and I would welcome that.”

On gun policy, she referenced New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s push for stronger legislation, noting, “When we did have an assault weapons ban from 1994 to 2004, we saw a decrease in mass shootings in this country—70% less likely to happen. And then when the ban sunsetted, it spiked back up.”

Tarlov also questioned how the shooter was able to legally obtain a firearm, given his mental health history. “He had his prescription meds on him, apparently, according to the reporting. How did he get a concealed carry license even in Nevada? How are these things happening?”

She emphasized that while not all tragedies can be prevented, “If you stopped this one, we’d have four people that were alive today who certainly deserve to be. And I don’t see why that’s a bad thing to do.”

Her colleagues reminded Tarlov that the shooter used an illegal firearm in the crime and more gun laws would not have stopped him, but that didn’t deter the die-hard Democrat from her usual spin.

The conversation later touched on racial profiling and misinformation on social media, with Tarlov criticizing premature assumptions about the shooter’s identity. “I saw all over social media that the perpetrator was of Middle Eastern descent… actually, it wasn’t the case at all. He’s an American, half Black, half Japanese.”

Greg Gutfeld responded, “Yeah, that’s social media though. CNN should know better,” to which Tarlov replied, “OK.”
