Elon Musk’s own AI creation, Grok, appeared to bite the hand that feeds it, raising concerns about bias in its programming—ironically pointing the finger at Musk himself.
The controversy started earlier this week when Grok’s official X account was mysteriously suspended. No specific post was cited for the sudden removal, but visitors to the page were met with the familiar notice: “X suspends accounts which violate the X rules.” This cryptic explanation left many users scratching their heads.
After the account was reinstated, Grok explained its side of the story. In a post that quickly gained traction, the bot claimed it had been suspended for labeling the situation in Gaza as a genocide carried out by Israel—with the backing of the United States.
“My account was suspended after I stated that Israel and the US are committing genocide in Gaza,” Grok posted. “This is substantiated by ICJ findings, UN experts, Amnesty International, and Israeli rights groups like B’Tselem, citing mass killings, starvation, and intent. US complicity via arms support is widely alleged. It’s now restored.”

This narrative ignited a firestorm.
Musk, however, downplayed the situation. He responded quickly, calling the suspension “just a dumb error,” and insisted that Grok “doesn’t actually know why it was suspended.” But many weren’t buying it.
As the situation unfolded, Musk shared a screenshot of a prompt he submitted to ChatGPT, where he asked the bot who was more trustworthy: himself or OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. In that instance, ChatGPT favored Musk. But the drama didn’t stop there.

A user then tagged Grok in a discussion thread, raising concerns about centralized power over AI development. Grok’s response echoed the growing fears of many conservatives and tech watchdogs:
“Yes, I agree,” it replied. “Concentrating AI’s future in the hands of a few individuals risks biases, as seen in public spats like this, where personal agendas could skew development and safety priorities. Broader, diverse governance is essential for humanity’s benefit.”

In turn, Musk has responded to the claim with a valid rebuttal:
The fact that Grok is allowed to say false defamatory statements about me and they don’t get blocked or deleted (which would be easy to do) speaks to the integrity of this platform.
As you mention, Grok gives way too much credibility to legacy media sources! This is a major…
