Mob torches car, beats homeowners in Queens for no reason

by

A peaceful Queens neighborhood turned into a war zone early Sunday when a mob of street-racing thugs beat a local couple, torched a car, and terrorized residents who dared to defend their own property—another shocking scene in a city where lawlessness keeps climbing.

“It was a complete melee,” said 59-year-old local Larry Rusch, whose company vehicle was set ablaze by the rampaging crowd. “I’ve been living here my whole life. It happens—but not to this extent.”

Residents say South Drive and 141st Street in Malba has long been targeted by reckless drivers doing donuts. But nothing prepared them for the 40-car takeover that stormed the block around 12:30 a.m., tearing over lawns and blasting through the quiet community like they owned it.

When homeowner Blake Ferrer stepped out to protect his property, he issued a simple command:
“Bro, you gotta get the f–k off my property.” That’s when, he said, “it all started.”

Video shows a dozen attackers pummeling Ferrer—kicking, punching, stomping—leaving him with broken ribs and a broken nose. His wife wasn’t spared either; she was hit during the chaos.

City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino, who represents the neighborhood and has been one of the few officials consistently calling out NYC’s spiraling disorder, didn’t mince words. Ferrer was “lucky he wasn’t killed,” she said, calling the attack “a disgrace” and blaming city leadership for emboldening criminals. “They came with their cars and wreaked havoc on this very quiet area of my district,” she told The Post.

Rusch, who runs a security company, tried to intervene by parking a company car in the intersection to block the speed-freaks. “As soon as I did that, everyone started leaving,” he said. But two individuals retaliated—hurling a firework or similar device into the vehicle, setting it ablaze. More chaos followed.

Paladino posted the fiery footage on X—showing a car engulfed in flames while another racer speeds past it, taunting the neighborhood.

Another resident, a 41-year-old man, had objects thrown into his car after he tried to stop the destruction, police confirmed.

Locals say armed homeowners were present—and showed restraint, but Paladino warned in a pointed message on X:
“However, that level of restraint is not guaranteed. If the city refuses to do what’s necessary, the people might.”

With New Yorkers increasingly left to fend for themselves, residents fear the next takeover could end much worse.
