Trump floats new name for AI in UN speech — here’s what he wants to call it after Americans weighed it

by

BS BULLETIN:

  • President Trump says “Artificial Intelligence” is an inaccurate and “very ineloquent” name.
  • He asked Americans to choose among Superior, Extreme and Supreme Intelligence — then eliminated the loser.
  • Trump returned to the idea Tuesday during his address to the United Nations, pitching “super intelligence.”

President Trump has looked at artificial intelligence and identified something that apparently needs fixing immediately.

The name.

Trump launched a Truth Social poll over the weekend declaring that “Artificial Intelligence” doesn’t properly describe the technology and offering Americans three alternatives.

“Many people think that the words ‘Artificial Intelligence’ are inaccurate, and very ineloquent, relative to AI, or Artificial Intelligence,” Trump wrote.

His proposed replacements were Superior Intelligence, Extreme Intelligence and Supreme Intelligence.

“This is a Poll, and I would appreciate everybody voting!” Trump wrote, asking followers to choose the best name for the growing technological “Revolution.”

Then democracy got ruthless.

Supreme Intelligence fell behind.

Trump announced that the option was “losing badly,” speculated that its association with the Supreme Court might be hurting it, eliminated it from contention and launched another poll between Superior Intelligence and Extreme Intelligence.

But Trump apparently wasn’t finished thinking about the branding.

During his address to the United Nations General Assembly Tuesday, the president again raised the subject, this time talking about “super intelligence” as he discussed the rapidly advancing technology.

This isn’t merely a presidential naming exercise.

Trump has increasingly put AI near the center of his economic agenda, describing the technology as an enormous engine of American growth while resisting efforts to substantially slow its development.

The debate has intensified as prominent technology executives have called for additional safeguards around increasingly powerful systems, while Trump has argued that excessive regulation could surrender America’s advantage to China.

Now apparently there’s another item on the agenda: What the heck are we supposed to call the thing?
