A new poll suggests that pop superstar Taylor Swift may not have had the major impact on Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign as Democrats may have desired.
Swift endorsed the Democrat nominee after her debate against former President Donald Trump, gushing about the vice president and the importance of supporting her. Though the much-anticipated endorsement was celebrated by the Harris fan club, it seems the 34-year-old singer is struggling to earn favorability with the majority of Americans, according to a New York Times poll.
The poll was conducted by the New York Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, and Siena College between Sept. 11 and Sept. 16, and found that only 44% of Americans had a favorable opinion of Swift. The survey revealed that 34 percent have unfavorable views of Swift following her endorsement.

“The Times has never polled voters about Ms. Swift before, but it appears that her decision has quickly divided Americans along partisan lines. Among Democrats, 70 percent view her favorably, compared with 23 percent of Republicans,” The New York Times reported.
“Of those surveyed in the poll, another 22 percent said they did not know how they felt about Ms. Swift, declined to say how they felt about her, or did not know who Ms. Swift was,” the Times added, taking a dig at one demographic: “These voters were — as should surprise no one — especially likely to be older than 65 and male.”
Notably, the same poll found that Trump’s favorability rating among voters than higher than Swift’s, with 47% of those surveyed saying they had a favorable opinion of the Republican nominee. Harris was viewed favorably by 48% of Americans, according to the poll.
“An ABC News/Ipsos poll released Monday found that only 6 percent of voters said Swift’s endorsement for Harris makes them more likely to support the vice president,” The Hill reported. “While only 13 percent of voters said it makes them less likely to support Harris, 81 percent said Swift’s backing makes no difference, according to the poll.”
Trump slammed the “Fortnight” singer in a post on Truth Social last weekend.
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Swift had written in her endorsement statement.
“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos,” she added.
