Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is calling out CBS News for deliberately editing out key portions of her powerful statement about Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a dangerous MS-13 gang member at the center of an immigration firestorm. Appearing on Face the Nation, Noem accused the liberal network of whitewashing her remarks to downplay the serious threat Garcia poses to American public safety.
“This morning, I joined CBS to report the facts about Kilmar Abrego Garcia,” Noem posted on her official X account. “Instead, CBS shamefully edited the interview to whitewash the truth about this MS-13 gang member and the threat he poses to American public safety.”
The video Noem shared shows the mainstream media outlet cutting 26 seconds from her original response. What was left out? Only the most damning details about Garcia’s disturbing criminal past — details every American has a right to hear.
In her full response, which CBS chose not to air, Noem described Garcia as a “perverted MS-13 gang member” and a “wife-beater” who has even sickened other human traffickers with his depravity. “This individual was a known human smuggler, an MS-13 gang member, an individual who was a wife-beater, and someone who was so perverted that he solicited nude photos from minors,” she explained. “Even his fellow human traffickers told him to knock it off. He was so sick in what he was doing and how he was treating small children.”
And CBS chose to censor that? Why?
What the network aired instead was a sanitized, watered-down version of Noem’s warning — removing all references to Garcia’s alleged child exploitation, gang affiliation, and abuse. Convenient, isn’t it, for a media establishment that has consistently gone to bat for open borders, soft-on-crime policies, and Democrat lawfare?
Noem made it clear: “He needs to never be in the United States of America. And our administration is making sure we’re doing all that we can to bring him to justice.” But those lines never made it to viewers’ screens.
Who is Kilmar Abrego Garcia, and why is the Biden-aligned Left so eager to protect him?
Garcia is no small-time offender. He was deported in March to his native El Salvador, but liberal Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen (D) flew down to personally meet with him — a move that stunned many Americans who wonder why a U.S. Senator is spending taxpayer dollars to visit a known gang member instead of prioritizing the safety of law-abiding citizens.
Thanks to a ruling by Obama-appointed U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis, Garcia was returned to Maryland just one month later. Since then, he’s been in legal limbo, exploiting our broken immigration system with the help of left-wing attorneys. His lawyers are now attempting to secure asylum or, failing that, have him sent to Costa Rica. Meanwhile, the federal government is seeking permission to deport him to Uganda — a bizarre move, but possibly the only option under current legal constraints.
Garcia is currently being held in a detention center in Virginia, a reminder that the threat remains right here at home.
Let’s be crystal clear: this isn’t just about media bias. It’s about the national security crisis unfolding at our borders and the willful cover-up by the liberal media to protect a radical pro-illegal immigration agenda. CBS News didn’t just edit an interview — they edited the truth.
