Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) announced Tuesday that the Biden-era FBI not only targeted President Donald Trump—but also expanded its scope to investigate key conservative organizations, including Turning Point USA.
Speaking during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Grassley cited information brought forward by a credible FBI whistleblower who exposed a sweeping and deeply concerning FBI investigation known internally as “Arctic Frost.” Originally launched to examine President Trump’s alleged role in contesting the 2020 election, the probe metastasized into what Grassley calls a politically motivated dragnet against conservatives.
“In total, 92 Republican targets, including Republican groups and Republican-linked individuals, were placed under the investigative scope of Arctic Frost,” Grassley revealed. “On that political list was one of Charlie Kirk’s groups, Turning Point USA.”
Grassley didn’t mince words, calling the investigation an example of “partisan ends” pursued through improper legal channels by FBI agents and DOJ prosecutors acting under the cover of objectivity.
“Arctic Frost wasn’t just a case to politically investigate Trump,” Grassley continued. “It was the vehicle by which partisan FBI agents and DOJ prosecutors could achieve their partisan ends and improperly investigate the entire Republican political apparatus.”
Among the other named targets of this weaponized law enforcement effort was the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA). Adam Piper, Executive Director of RAGA, issued a scathing response to Fox News:
“For years, the deep state, unelected Biden bureaucrats — including the FBI — used lawfare to target Republican AGs and many other close friends because we were allies of Donald Trump,” Piper said.
“The Biden Administration bastardized the rule of law, gave license to lawless liberals, and did everything possible to kneecap any and all opposition. Republican AGs will work to hold these bad actors accountable and help President Trump restore objectivity to our federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies.”
President Trump himself weighed in on Truth Social, demanding answers:
“Why was the wonderful Turning Point under INVESTIGATION by ‘Deranged’ Jack Smith and the Corrupt & Incompetent Biden Administration?” Trump asked.
“They tried to force Charlie, and many other people and movements, out of business. They Weaponized the Justice Department against Sleepy Joe Biden’s Political Opponents, including ME!”
Trump has also made clear he plans to fight fire with fire. He recently floated the idea of labeling Antifa as a domestic terror organization and revoking tax-exempt status from left-wing nonprofits that engage in political operations.
“It’s something I would do, yeah,” Trump said during a media Q&A this week. “If I have support from the people back here… I would do that 100%. And others also by the way. But Antifa is terrible.”
Reports also indicate that Trump is exploring the possibility of bringing RICO (racketeering) charges against radical left-wing groups and pressing for criminal investigations into organizations allegedly coordinating harassment and financial targeting of conservatives.
Unsurprisingly, left-wing pundits like David Frum are already clutching their pearls.
“People around the president, the president himself… are threatening to use the power of the state to attack not criminals but people who have different views,” Frum said during an interview with The Times.
The irony, of course, is hard to ignore. Everything Frum accuses Trump of, the Biden administration has now been credibly accused of doing—weaponizing the FBI to silence dissent and destroy political opposition.
