BS BRIEF:
- The U.S. Secret Service confirmed it is reviewing comments made by Florida congressional candidate William Upham after he posted a video declaring President Donald Trump “the Antichrist” and saying he “must be killed.”
- The U.S. Marine Corps publicly distanced itself from Upham, emphasizing he was medically discharged in 2025 and declaring his remarks “a direct violation of the oath he swore to uphold.”
- Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao joined the condemnation, calling the comments “Unacceptable” amid continued concerns over threats against Trump following multiple assassination attempts and heightened political violence.
A Florida congressional race that almost nobody was paying attention to suddenly became national news for all the wrong reasons this week after a write-in candidate posted a video that sounded less like a campaign speech and more like something that should have immediately triggered alarm bells at every federal law enforcement agency in America.
William Upham, a former Marine and write-in candidate in Florida’s 5th Congressional District, posted a lengthy video in which he accused President Donald Trump of being “the Antichrist,” “a false messiah,” and “the enemy of God.”
Then he crossed a line that no serious political figure should ever approach.
“There is no doubt in my mind that the president of the United States, Donald J. Trump, is the Antichrist,” Upham declared. “He is a false messiah. And he is your enemy. And he must be killed.”
The comments immediately generated outrage across social media and drew swift responses from federal officials.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Secret Service confirmed the agency was aware of the remarks.
“The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the comments made by a congressional candidate in Florida, and we investigate anything that can be perceived as a threat toward one of our protectees,” the agency said. “Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence.”
The Marine Corps moved just as quickly to make clear that Upham does not speak for the institution.

“The Marine Corps is aware of the disturbing statements made by William Upham,” the service wrote. “The comments made by Upham are a direct violation of the oath he swore to uphold and are not in keeping with the service’s values.” The Corps also noted that Upham was medically discharged on May 30, 2025.
Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao delivered an equally blunt response. “Unacceptable. William Upham is no longer a Marine and does not represent our values or ethos.”
The episode lands at a particularly sensitive moment. July marks two years since the Butler, Pennsylvania assassination attempt that nearly took President Trump’s life. Since then, threats against Trump have remained a major concern for federal authorities, making rhetoric that openly calls for violence especially alarming.
In the video, Upham attempted to frame his comments as part of a broader religious warning, repeatedly citing Scripture and describing America as being engaged in a spiritual war. He referenced the oath he took as a Marine officer and argued that Americans were being deceived by what he called a “false idol.” He concluded by saying, “President Trump is the Antichrist. And he will be killed and sent to hell. God will prevail against evil.”
