AOC responds to Trump feeling bad for her, Musk reacts to her with a single emoji

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) suffered a political blow to her ego and noticed that even President-elect Donald Trump felt “bad” for her.

The far-left ‘Squad’ member recently suffered a humiliating defeat when she made a bid to chair the powerful House Oversight Committee. She lost during a leadership vote on Tuesday, to 74-year-old Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.), who was backed by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Trump reacted on Truth Social with a message saying she should not give up.

“Really too bad that AOC lost the Battle for the Leadership Seat in the Democrat Party,” he wrote. “She should keep trying. Someday, she will be successful!”

The progressive New York lawmaker responded to Trump’s post with an observation on X, writing, “Damn you know it’s bad when even Trump is feeling bad for me,” along with a laughing emoji.

Her post prompted a laughing emoji from X owner Elon Musk.

Trump’s words came after the Republican chairman of the House Oversight Committee had also spoken positively of Ocasio-Cortez. Rep. James Comer (R-KY) said he was “a big AOC fan” when asked about her vying for the position.

“Obviously I don’t agree with very much of her policy, but I think she’s a good person,” he told CNN last week. “I think she’s a good, well-spoken person for the Democrats to serve in that position.”

But Democrats did not make way for a younger generation by voting with Connolly in a 131-84 vote, prompting criticism from their own, as even MSNBC’s Joy Reid complained about the “gerontocracy.”

“At this point, almost nothing the Democratic Party does makes any damned sense. They are hanging onto their gerontocracy and consultant class at the expense of their most loyal voters. And let’s just be clear, they’ll be fine while our communities pay the price,” she wrote on Bluesky.

Meanwhile, AOC’s reaction to Trump’s message prompted more responses on X.
