Loyal MAGA ally tells GOP to wake up or lose big: ‘Trump needs to ditch the foreign-policy crap’

by

Longtime conservative voice Sean Davis, co-founder of the digital outlet The Federalist and former CFO of the conservative news site Daily Caller, has issued a blistering critique of both Donald Trump and the House GOP ahead of the pivotal 2026 mid-term elections.

Despite being a vocal supporter of Trump and the MAGA movement for years, Davis wrote on his social-media feed that Republicans currently “have no accomplishments, no plans, and no vision. Why on earth would anyone be excited to go vote for them 12 months from now?” He added a pointed rebuke: “I don’t know who is advising congressional Republicans on strategy right now, but… whoever it is has an IQ barely approaching room temperature.”

Davis’s message is clear: if Republicans don’t shift course, they are likely to pay a heavy price. He argued that the GOP must reorient toward tangible domestic economic issues rather than foreign policy distractions. “Trump needs to ditch the foreign-policy crap and focus all his attention on the domestic economy, which is still not working for the majority of people. Right now he looks weak and rudderless.”

In his assessment, young Americans are especially bearing the strain of economic stagnation: “Newly minted college grads can’t find work and are saddled with debt. Where is their path to the American dream right now? Who is giving them a vision of a future worth fighting for?” He warned: “You cannot have a viable country or future when half your country and all its young people are locked out of the economy and locked out of ever owning a home or much of anything beyond next month’s streaming subscription.”

Davis also took aim at the GOP’s messaging and agenda. He accused the party of lacking meaningful legislative wins and failing to inspire confidence. “Republicans right now have no accomplishments, no plans, and no vision,” he wrote.

This critique carries extra weight given Davis’s credentials: he co-founded The Federalist, a digital publication that has been a longstanding champion of Trump and the MAGA movement. His rebuke signals that frustration is building even among some of the movement’s most ardent defenders.

The timing is significant. As Republicans head into the 2026 mid-term cycle, Davis’s message amounts to a warning that the party’s survival may depend on substantive policy and credible economic leadership— not just loyalty.
