In a tirade that reveals more about the radical priorities of the Democratic Party than any supposed concern for public safety, Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) recently launched an unhinged attack on President Donald Trump and his administration. Ignoring the real crime epidemic plaguing Washington, D.C., Swalwell instead accused Trump and his team of being the “real criminals,” all while pledging to transform the nation’s capital into the 51st state—effectively handing Democrats two more Senate seats.
“We find D.C. under the control of a wannabe aspiring dictator,” Swalwell declared, taking aim at Trump’s law-and-order approach to the escalating crime problem in the city. But instead of offering serious solutions or acknowledging the violent crime surge D.C. residents are enduring, Swalwell pivoted to partisan politics and personal attacks.
“Yes, there are more criminals in Washington D.C.,” Swalwell said, before bizarrely adding, “Most of them are in the Trump administration.” According to the California Democrat, President Trump should forget about restoring order in the nation’s capital and instead focus on what he calls “a real problem in his own house.”
“So why don’t you, Donald Trump, keep your side of the street clean before you start federalizing and sending troops into other neighborhoods in our nation’s capital?” Swalwell said, seemingly more concerned about the use of federal law enforcement to restore peace than the safety of American citizens.
Swalwell’s rant took an even more dangerous turn when he promised retribution once Democrats return to full control in Washington. “When Democrats have the subpoena power,
we will make sure to shine a light and bring justice to and hold to account the real criminals in Washington D.C., the Trump administration,” he stated, openly admitting his party’s intent to use the justice system as a political weapon.
It’s a chilling admission—one that confirms what conservatives have been warning about for years: Democrats are willing to politicize the courts, Congress, and the Constitution itself to silence opponents and consolidate power.
In case anyone doubted the ultimate goal, Swalwell made it crystal clear: “When we are in power, when we have the White House, the Senate and the House again, we will make sure D.C. becomes a state.”
Let’s be honest—this isn’t about “representation” or “democracy.” It’s about power. Permanent power. Turning D.C. into a state would lock in Democrat dominance and further marginalize conservative voices. Swalwell’s comments aren’t just offensive—they’re dangerous, anti-democratic, and should serve as a wake-up call for every American who still believes in law, order, and constitutional governance.
