Chicago mayor: Citizens who want criminals in jail are ‘racist, immoral and unholy’

by

In a city plagued by violent crime and bloodshed, Mayor Brandon Johnson has made it disturbingly clear who holds his sympathy—and it’s not the innocent victims. Rather than standing with the law-abiding citizens of Chicago who are desperate for safety and accountability, Johnson has chosen to publicly shame those who want justice. According to the far-left mayor, if you believe criminals should face consequences for their actions, you’re not just wrong—you’re “racist” and “unholy.”

This isn’t a misinterpretation or out-of-context gaffe. Johnson, who has repeatedly leaned into progressive soft-on-crime rhetoric, appears more outraged by citizens demanding law and order than he is by the violent offenders terrorizing his city. And people are taking notice.

Social media erupted after Johnson’s recent statements, with one poster writing, “Posters are amazed that Johnson wants to shame voters, who are often victims of crime, as immoral for wanting relief. Is this truly the message the Democrats want to send?” Another user, @AlBuffalo2nite, didn’t hold back, calling Johnson “a defense attorney for filth and savage thugs,” and warning that the real victims are everyday Chicagoans.

It’s not just online backlash—statistics back up the sense of urgency. Chicago continues to be one of the most dangerous cities in America, with weekend after weekend marked by shootings, carjackings, and murder. Residents live in fear while political leaders like Johnson deflect blame and label public concern as bigotry.

What’s truly unholy is watching innocent children die while elected officials give criminals a pass in the name of “equity.” The progressive agenda that treats law enforcement like the enemy and excuses violent behavior has turned cities like Chicago into war zones. And Brandon Johnson, rather than confronting the chaos, seems content to virtue signal while his city burns.

Let’s be clear: a mayor’s first duty is to protect his citizens, not to defend those who would do them harm. But Johnson’s priorities appear tragically misplaced. He acts less like a leader and more like a public defender for repeat offenders—many of whom go on to commit even more heinous crimes after being released.

The people of Chicago deserve better. They deserve a mayor who believes in the rule of law, who values justice over ideology, and who sees the lives of the innocent as more sacred than the feelings of violent criminals. The left’s obsession with criminal justice “reform” has morphed into a dangerous experiment where public safety is sacrificed on the altar of woke politics.
