Black comedian dons stunning ‘white face’ redneck disguise at NASCAR, under fire for portrayal

Comedian Andrew “Druski” Desbordes, known for his edgy sketch comedy, has triggered an uproar this week with a viral “white‑face” stunt at NASCAR’s Southern 500 race.

In an astonishing transformation, Druski painted his face, arms, and torso with lifelike pale makeup and added a farmer’s‑tan sunburn, mullet, beard, an American‑flag cowboy hat, overalls, and flag tattoos, blending seamlessly into the tailgating crowd at Darlington Raceway. The disguise was so convincing that-onlookers didn’t recognize the 30‑year‑old comedian until the video unraveled online. The skit spread like wildfire, garnering tens of millions of views across platforms, including more than 11 million within hours on Instagram and X. Rolling Stone recently dubbed Druski the second‑most influential creator of 2025.

The video (below post) shows Druski mingling with fans, raising toasts, and mimicking perceived “NASCAR culture”—including a cringe‑inducing moment when he spits at the feet of Black attendees while speaking in an exaggerated Southern accent. At another point, he yells, “You lost, boy?” and tells a Black man heading to the race to “find something safe to do, boy”, as he spits out of his truck window.

Some viewers hailed it as a masterclass in comedic realism:

“The white skin is one thing… but adding the f–king sunburn farmers tan is going above and beyond.”
“Your makeup artist needs some sort of award.”
“Probably the highest level of performance art this generation will ever witness.”

“This is Tropical Thunder levels of race swap. How did he make it look so good,”

Others condemned the performance as highly offensive and ill‑advised:

“Conflicted because it’s funny but also I kinda hate to see it… It’s hard enough trying to tell people you watch NASCAR.”
“This is EXACTLY the stereotype the sport needs to get away from.”
“Great, now we have Druski cosplaying as a racist white dude… and he spits at the feet of multiple black men.”

Supporters liken Druski’s tactics to satire masters like Sacha Baron Cohen, arguing that his immersive characters force uncomfortable truths into the open. But critics warn this version falls flat, relying on shock rather than insight—reinforcing negative images of NASCAR fans, most of whom are patriotic and working‑class, not caricatures.

Adding fuel to the fire, Druski had executed a similar “white‑face” sketch in May involving a suburban character accepted in the “hood,” titled “WhiteBoy That’s Accepted by the Hood.” That too stirred debate over race, privilege, and comedy double standards.

NASCAR has been actively seeking to expand diversity, through programs like “Drive for Diversity” and high‑profile Black drivers such as Bubba Wallace. Druski’s exaggerated portrayal in that setting feels tone‑deaf for many, and critics argue the skit may undercut years of progress.

The dude is talented, for sure, but he definitely slammed a whole group of patriots hard. Did you find Druski’s NASCAR “white‑face” prank racist?
